Caibarién est le village le plus proche de Cayo Santa Maria, beaucoup des travailleurs de l'hôtel y vivent. C'est un village de pêcheurs siué à environ 50 km de l'hôtel. Pour s'y rendre nous avons loué un jeep. C'est juste à côté de ce village que se trouve le début de la chaussée (Pedraplen) dans la mer qui relie Cayo Santa Maria à la grande île de Cuba. Il en coûte $2 US de péage pour emprunter ce pedraplen de 48 km comportant 44 ponts et qui a pris 10 ans à construire . Caibarien is the closest village to Cayo Santa Maria, many of the employees of the hotel live there. This fishermen's village is approximately 50 km from the hotel. To go there we rented a jeep. It is next to this village that we can find the beginning of the causeway (Pedraplen) in the sea which connects Cayo Santa Maria to the big island of Cuba.
