The village and marina The small village of Isla del Sol is approximately 8 km from the hotel resort. You will find there the appartments for the hotels staff, a small hotel (Villa Internacional), a medical center, a small primary school, a bar, a restaurant, a souvenirs shop (Caracol), the turtle farm, and the Marina Puerto del Sol. From the marina you can take a boat to surronding islets, do a catamaran cruise, go for a diving and scuba diving excursions to the coral reef, book a deep sea fishing excursion, take the shuttle-boat to Playa Sirena, etc. |

| The turtle farm Located at the entrance of the village (near the marina), the turtle farm is a preservation center which goal is to save these endangered species. The owner Octavio collects every years hundreds of eggs that turtles lay on the beach at Playa Tortuga (eastern side of the island) and brings them back to his farm. After they hatch, he puts the baby turtles is small pools for a while before releasing them to the sea on a safe beach near his farm. ![]() |

| During a stay at Cayo Largo, a visit to the turtle farm is a must, not only to learn more about these quiet creatures, but also to encourage the work of it's owner. Admittance fee is $1 USD per person. |

| Cayo Iguana This small islet near Cayo Largo is inhabited by many iguanas. In 1999, this excursion was part of the all-inclusive package. A free shuttle leaves the hotels once a day to the Marina where a boat brings you to Cayo Iguana. It is necessary to book this excursion at least one day in advance, reservations are made directly at the hotel reception. |
